Profile information

I completed my PhD in Integrated Biology at EEZA (Experimental Station of Arid Zones - CSIC, Spain). After a postdoctoral appointment at Novia University of Applied Sciences (Finland), I moved to Lund University (Sweden), my current affiliation together with the University of Seville (Spain). Overall, my main research interest lies in behavioural and evolutionary ecology of raptors, in particular of owls. My research addresses different eco-evolutionary aspects of inter- and intraspecific phenotypic variation combining phylogenetic comparative analyses, long-term datasets and behavioural experiments, which I also use to identify factors driving morphological and behavioural diversification under global changes. My goal is to provide new insight on the impact of human-induced environmental changes on the relationship between morphology, behaviour and fitness in birds, which could be valuable to plan more effective conservation actions. As a member of the EOU council, I aim to share my experience and enthusiasm to promote both the transmission of scientific contents within the ornithological community and the outreach to general public to spark interest in a broad public audience on conservation issues.
