I am lecturer at the Univeristy Complutense of Madrid, and Research Associate at the University of Nottingham. I am an evolutionary biologist broadly interested in life history evolution and physiological ecology. I try to understand links between life history traits and mechanisms of disease resistance, in particular the immune system. Why are some individuals, some populations or some species more susceptible than others to infectious diseases? How do animals cope with disease? These are the type of questions I am trying to address in my research, with different approaches, from comparative analyses to molecular and more mechanistic approaches focusing in understanding how the immune system of wild birds works.
