Profile information
I am an Evolutionary Ecologist and currently work as a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Turku (Finland). I use extensive long-term datasets of white-tailed eagles (Haliaeetus albicilla) that allow me to explore how early life experiences shape life history decisions. My work also focuses on the conservation of the Baltic white-tailed eagle. Primary concerns are environmental pollutants and the construction of wind turbines in the white-tailed eagle's coastal habitats. I conducted my PhD thesis at the FitzPatrick Institute of African Ornithology (University of Cape Town, South Africa), in which I explored mechanisms of colour polymorphism maintenance in the black sparrowhawk (Accipiter melanoleucus). My other research has focussed on the population and conservation genetics of golden eagles (Aquila chrysaetos) and European rollers (Coracias garrulus).
