My research interest centres around life history trade-offs and how these form strategies affecting reproduction and survival. My background is in evolutionary ecology but I try to combine this ultimate level with a proximate, more mechanistic level, setting the boundaries of adaptation. In this respect much of my recent work has been about energy and/or immunity as currencies for the life history trade-offs. My very latest research interest deals with benefits and costs of body temperature regulation. I work with nest box breeding birds as model organisms, thus mostly marsh, blue and great tits as well as pied flycatchers. I am head of the section: Evolutionary Ecology within the biological Department at Lund University. I am also Editor-in-chief of Journal of Avian Biology.
