Profile information

I am the scientific coordinator of the Austrian Ornithological Centre and my research focus lies on songbird migration. In particular, I study the ecophysiology of stopover in the Sahara Desert and on small Mediterranean islands. Most of my research is conducted in the field and relies on bird capture and on a range of physiological measurements, as well as on direct and indirect behavioural observations (e.g. using radiotracking). I also coordinate bird ringing in Austria.
